Sridhar Tayur, PhD
Dr. Tayur is the Ford Distinguished Research Chair and Professor of Operations Management at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business, and is the founder and CEO of OrganJet Corporation. He was previously the founder of the software company SmartOps Corporation and served as its CEO for 12 years (acquired by SAP AG). He has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering, as a Fellow of INFORMS and as a Distinguished Fellow of MSOM.
Dr. Tayur has consulted for and implemented systems at many firms including GE, Microsoft, and Caterpillar. He has served on the editorial boards of Operations Research, Journal of Optimization and Engineering, Management Science and MSOM Journal. Dr. Tayur has published many scholarly publications in Operations Research, Management Science, Mathematics of Operations Research, Mathematical Programming, Stochastic Models, Queuing Systems, Transportation Science, IIE Transactions, NRLQ, Journal of Algorithms, Interfaces, POMS Journal and MSOM Journal. He has held visiting positions at MIT and Cornell.
Dr. Tayur was elected as Fellow of INFORMS in 2012. Dr. Tayur has additionally been recognized for his entrepreneurship through an Ernst & Young finalist award as well as by the Carnegie Science Center Award for innovation in Information Technology.
